Principles and Strategy

By embedding ESG into our operations and business decisions, we create value for our business by driving innovation, expanding our value proposition, deepening relationships with our stakeholders, attracting and retaining top talent, and reducing our capital costs through ESG-related financing.

We maximize the positive impact of our ESG actions and the value they deliver for our business by following four strategic principles:

1. Business integration – Weave ESG into the fabric of our organization to inform decision-making from the boardroom to all corners of our operations.

2. Customer-focused solutions – Pursue ESG initiatives that add value for our customers and society.

3. Innovation – Unlock new technologies and approaches to solve sustainability challenges.

4. Culture & Talent – Offer a world-class employee experience and engage our employees in delivering on our ESG objectives.

Oversight and Implementation

The Board of Directors has direct oversight of Frisbo’ ESG program. The ESG department reports to our Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Operation Manager, who reports directly to our Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. We support our business strategy by establishing ESG goals that are informed by our stakeholder engagement efforts. Our ESG goals are approved and supported by senior management and the board of directors and are put into action by our colleagues and partners in the field.

We track data and our progress to report on the outcomes of our efforts across our corporate operations and portfolio for the three dimensions of ESG. ESG-related metrics such as progress on inclusion and diversity, solar and LED lighting inform the pay of all Frisbo executives and responsible employees.

Sustainability Policy Statement

Sustainability in all its forms is one of the most pressing topics of our day. How products get to consumers’ doors is a fundamental component of e-commerce, and is a subject at the heart of discussions about sustainability and e-commerce.

Meanwhile, a growing awareness of climate change has seen businesses from all sectors rethink the way they produce, exchange, and how and what they sell to consumers.

Products, packaging materials and shipping practices now play an overarching and facilitating role in contributing to sustainable improvement of supply chains.

E-commerce shipping and fulfillment is an essential element for scaling an e-commerce business. However, not all operations are equal. Behind the scenes there can be big differences in carbon emissions, corresponding to the transportation used and distances traveled. For brands in the business-to-consumer (B2C) space who want to engage meaningfully on climate change, how e-commerce orders are fulfilled matters.

Our Approach

By harnessing a network of local fulfillers, Frisbo is able to use less emissions intensive transport closer to where end customers are located. This in turn helps reduce emissions, speed up delivery times and drive down costs.

Reducing the footprint by storing the products closer to the end customer, using practices such as direct injection, order orchestration and in-country fulfillment options.

Using a network of local fulfillment for even half of e-commerce orders between 2020 and 2025

could lead to significant impacts.

With Order Orchestration the fulfillment is done from the most optimal location. It eliminates unnecessary journeys. Nowadays, as people have become accustomed to having their products delivered within hours of placing an order, it’s advantageous to bring orders closer to the customer.

An Order Orchestration approach saves on shipping costs and speeds up delivery. It also opens up a choice for more sustainable last mile shipping options. This approach reduces the carbon footprint by selecting optimal delivery routes and sustainable means of transport.

Sustainability and corporate responsibility are part of our core values, so we made landmark progress by becoming carbon neutral in 2022 and pledging to offset all our historical and future emissions across our international supply chain. Along with sustainable strategies implemented throughout our supply chain such as order orchestration, pallet optimization, and direct injection shipping, we decided that becoming carbon neutral was the best way for us to have a meaningful impact. No company can solve truly global challenges, but we’re hopeful that our supply chain can be part of a far-reaching shift in habits.

Carbon neutral shipments

Some of our partners are helping us to achieve our sustainability goals.

DHL GoGreen Logo

GoGreen shipping with DHL

DHL offers environmentally friendly shipping for all packages. The GoGreen environmental protection program encompasses a set of climate protection projects that offset greenhouse gas emissions arising during parcel transport.

Carbon-neutral shipping with DPD

DPD has been carbon-neutral since 2012 and they provide carbon-neutral shipping for all parcels across Europe. By measuring their carbon footprint per parcel, their aim is to reduce it, if possible, and offset the remaining emissions by funding clean energy projects worldwide.

Green Last Mile - Sameday Courier

Sameday is the leading Romanian B2C parcel carrier company, providing a full range of delivery services and operating the largest automated parcel machines (APM) network in Romania and Hungary. One of the main innovations that helped them significantly reduce their CO2 footprint is the easybox locker. The OOH (Out of home) delivery solution that they launched in 2018 was the winning choice not only for our customers' experience, but also for reducing carbon emissions and improving the traffic that courier activity generates in cities.

Sustainable packaging.

Frisbo standard materials

Our standard packaging materials are made out of cardboard that can be recycled. Further protective packing material is made out of old packaging materials that otherwise would have gone to waste.

Sustainable custom packaging

Frisbo is your holistic packaging partner. We can help our clients procure the best packaging for their brand made from sustainable materials. When proposing packaging materials we always keep in mind the sustainability aspect of the packaging, both for boxes as well as add-ons.

By being transparent about our progress, eager in our pursuits and collaborative in our approach, we will continue to keep our sustainability promise, creating a legacy of change.

Our climate goals are challenging but we believe the path to sustainability is as urgent as it is important. Together, we hope to set an example and standard for the logistics sector at large.
